A Documentary Workshop and Collective

Exploring stories that shape our world.

PLANET STORY LAB is a hands-on documentary initiative where students, community members, and emerging filmmakers collaborate to uncover and tell urgent, compelling stories. Each cycle, we center on a chosen theme—whether it's the impact of climate change, a scientific breakthrough, or a pressing social issue—and dive deep into research, mentorship, and production.

This is more than a class. It’s a working collective, a creative incubator, and an immersive storytelling experience. Participants take on roles as directors, producers, cinematographers, sound recordists, and editors, working together to develop short documentary projects that engage with stories that shape our communities and planet.

Guided by award-winning documentarians, industry professionals, and subject matter experts, we provide training, mentorship, and access to professional filmmaking equipment. Whether you're an aspiring filmmaker, a journalism student, or someone with a powerful personal story to tell, PLANET STORY LAB is a space to experiment, collaborate, and bring documentary storytelling to life.

The first session is planned for Spring 2025, in collaboration with the Film, TV and Media Arts Department at Glendale Community College.
